Trauma... More finger problems.
24 February 2006

As you can see from the photos, I screwed up. I was using a razor blade knife to trim to size a typography class assignment. As a designer I've trimmed countless amounts of projects, often on a daily basis. I was accompanied by my friend Jason Dilworth of jasondilworth.com, who jumped right in and finished the job after I realized that I had just sliced my finger open.
I thought it would be okay as long as I kept it tightly wrapped and took extra care with it. My wife instructed me to pay the doctor a visit and for a second opinion. The diagnosis: stitches. Notice the one that goes through my fingernail.. I don't think that was called for, and neither did my sensitive little feelings. You can get my wife's perspective by clicking on the title of this post or accessing her blog via my links.
As for my pinky... It's almost back to full strength and mobility.

Thanks Tab, and Manda
22 February 2006

Well, it's now 9:25 pm on Wednesday and I've been at school since 7:00 pm yesterday. I would just like to say thank you to Manda Bull, a friend of mine who saved me in a time of need. She brought me a Tab Energy, and it's keeping me together. This is the latest in high fashion, energy drinks, that in my opinion is better than any other. If you haven't tried this stuff I highly recommend that you give it a shot. They're low in calories, and carbs and taste great. Now I'm headed home to get some much needed sleep.
Thanks

Ma.gnolia
16 February 2006
As some of you may have noticed, for quite some time I had in my links, "delicious links" it directed you to a site
http://del.icio.us which is a fantastic site for those of you who care about the web. It's a site that allows you to store your bookmarked sites, or "favorites" on the web, so you could access them from anywhere. For quite some time I have been waiting for them to update their import function that allows you to import all of your bookmarks. It's still down.
Thanks to my friend Jason Dilworth or jasondilworth.com I'm now using ma.gnolia. It's the same concept with a little different style. I encourage you to join and we can become buddies through the site and share our favorite websites. Click on the title of this post to get started, and feel free to check out some of my "favorites."

Leaving the "Mother Land"
14 February 2006

Happy Valentines day! I see no other way for my sister Kady to spend this day than on an airplane to China. Kady will be spending the next two years using her professional design skills in Shanghai, China. She's a very talented Interior designer whose skills will be utilized in the design of Five Star hotels.
Everyone back home will miss her a lot but we're all excited that she has taken this opportunity. Happy Valentines day Kady and good luck.

Attack of the Horse
12 February 2006

Well, these photos are a bit out of season and since then my house has also changed... I was thumbing through my iPhoto library and stumbled across these. The story is this: My brother-in-law took all of the old wood from his kids playhouse and with the help of my creative sister, they constructed "the horse". Late in the night I woke up to a sound of wood dropping on the road near my house, so I peaked out the window and saw a horse/dragon like creature with two sets of human legs shuffling from under it. I couldn't contain my laughter and once they herd me they took off, leaving the wild mustang on my grass.
For the next few days our home became a neighborhood attraction so we moved the horse into the back yard garden. It spent most of the summer there, grazing on the lush vegetation and keeping the snails away from my pumpkin plants. In late August our family took a trip to bear lake. The night before we prepped the horse with green paint, a shredded green tarp and 10 strands of Christmas lights. We then drove it to the creators home, lit it up and labeled it "the bear lake monster". Unfortunately, because if was a safety hazard to young children, it was destroyed the next day.

A Diabetes Reality
05 February 2006
Early December 2005 my mother was diagnosed with Diabetes. She wasn't just diagnosed she was admitted into the ICU at Lakeview hospital because of her extremely high blood sugar levels. Hovering in the 190+ for who knows how long, she was what her doctor likes to call "the train wreck". After a weekend spent in the hospital she was released and sent home to begin a new life style that she shares with 20.8 million others in the United States. Most of us who don't suffer with or know any one who suffers, really don't pay attention to the disease. It seemed to me like such a common thing for a few people to have that it really wasn't a big deal. Now as I see my mother suffering and dealing with the unfortunate effects I realize how much it is a "big deal".
My wife also suffers from a disease that is directly related to diabetes. Her body does not recognize sugars (much like a diabetic) and effects her in many similar ways along with other specific effects. Because of this she checks her blood sugars with a monitor like any other diabetic. Tonight she was checking her blood sugar levels and unfortunately they were 150+... I asked if I could check mine because we had pretty much had about the same amount to eat throughout the day so it would make a good comparison. I mustered up the courage to prick my arm (which doesn't actually hurt, I'm just a baby and don't like needles) and awaited my reading. 77, the monitor read. Thankfully my body is utilizing sugars in the way It should but what an eye opener I had. I truly have a better understanding of how hard it would be to suffer with this disease. My heart goes out to those who are dealing with Diabetes and commend you for the sacrifices you make each and every day.
To find out more information about Diabetes, the title of this post is a link to the American Diabetes Association website. Please show your support to those you know who are suffering with this. It's a lot harder than most of us realize.
Thank you-
