Many of you know that back in July we had to put liddle down. He suffered from a harsh case of bone cancer that spread throughout his body in short time. As time goes by I miss him even more. I know that eventually we'll get a puppy to join our family but for now I can't help but think about my missing friend.

I've given it some thought and I really think that I want another saint. Shan and I have discussed a variety of big dogs and I've been open to the idea, but lately... I'm not. I don't know exactly why, but I can't imagine a better dog for me.
Who knows what the future will bring. we'll just have to wait and see.

So I was paying my our phone bill the other day on on the other side was that crazy, voice activated, robot lady. She was having some problems taking down my cc expiration date and ended up apologizing to me twice... then she said "I'm sorry I'm having trouble, let me get a representative to further assist you." I never knew that robots had feelings like that. She really sounded upset. maybe her job was on the line.I'm a bit upset and torn about this evenings events. I received tickets to the circus and Shan and I invited the other Kevin and Shannon to come along. Tonight is also the second episode of the third season of the Office. The best show ever. Also, MG is speaking at BYU this evening.
I'm going to the circus and I'm excited about that. I can download the Office later, but the BYU thing should be a hit and I wish I could attend that as well.
Shout out to Prime Time in Vegas and all the other lucky people hanging at interbike.
+ if you don't think fall is wonderful... you haven't been out enough.

So the old Subaru is going up for sale. It's been a great car but there comes a time when all good things must surly end. Shan and I made a vehicle purchase yesterday and are really excited about the new ride. When we pulled in, the old subaru new that his time is vastly approaching but he's happy to see a nice update to the family. If you know anyone who is looking for a 1995 Subaru wagon with lots of extras... give me a shout.

Just in time for a few cold days before the even colder winter months. My mother bought this hot rod for me last Feb. and had it stashed away for Christmas of this year. Last week when I was sick, the only thing that made me feel better was a little bit of my favorite drink... Hot chocolate. So she decided to bust it out early and treat me to a treat. This is smokin hot and works great. It's a bit on the noisy side but it's well worth it. It will basically make any smooth and frothy hot drink you can think of and that's my style. So bottoms up to the "coco late" machine and feel free to drop by for a delicious and warm cup of Hot Chocolate with whipped cream or a smokin smooth steamer.

Woke up with a tiny bit of snow on my lawn but quite a bit more in the hills. I spent yesterday sick in bed so I took it easy today and didn't ride my bike. I just posted it for sale on ebay.Spent a little time in the garage and stumbled across "mothra"... the giant bird moth. I thought he was dead so I put him in some tupperware for safe keeping and to show off to my nephews. I guess it just needed a little warmpth and relaxation. He soon percked up and was ready for a quick photoshoot.

Later, Shan and I took a drive to our favorite place (snowbasin) to check out the snow and get out of the house. I'm really excited to ski but I also have a few more miles I need to get in on the bicycle, just because. I'm sure it will all melt away soon so I'm not too worried. But i did fire up the furnace today because zipper was cold. Still growing some fur back on the tail and paw, so he's a bit of a sissy right now.

After snowbasin we headed down Ogden canyon to the Oaks for some eats. I ordered a double cheese burger but it turns out I'm only a single kind of man. I did leave a little room for some ice cream though.
It's been a nice day.

one week ago tomorrow, Shan and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary. It seems crazy to me that we have been married for five years but even more crazy is that we've been together for seven. (I use the word crazy to represent the passing of time)Throughout those years Shan has developed a true understanding and of me and the way I work. She has been there for my every need and taken care of me through any of my problems in life. She is always giving 100% of her, to me. I could go on and on about all the things she has helped me with in our relationship but the list would simply be too long for this blog. Maybe some other time though.
Throughout those years, because of Shan, I have learned more about myself, living and loving than I could ever imagine. While Shan has perfected the devoted attention and love, I'm still hard at work trying to get things right. I know I'll never be able to be as perfect for her as she is for me, but I'm trying and learning how to be better every day.
Shan is what makes me, me. Shan is everything to me and there's no other person that I'd rather spend my life with than her. The past 5 (7) years have been great and I'm only anticipating the future to get better.
Thank you Shannon-

No, I didn't race the LOTAJ, Lota J, La toe ja, or what ever you want to call it... I spent the weekend in Bear Lake with my family. I did go for a nice road ride with my father from Bear Lake to Mt. Pilear (probably spelled wrong) and watched some people suffer. Logan 2 Jackson is really not my thing. Yes it might be fun to do or say you've done, but I've never really been interested. It's also one of those things that when every anyone finds out that you're a cyclist... the immediately ask if I've race the Logan to Jackson. Looking disappointed I tell them, no, sorry I haven't, I've let another person down. From then on they really don't consider me as being any kind of cyclist at all, because I haven't done the Logan to Jackson. Oh well. I had a pretty good weekend with the family and a decent and much shorter road ride with my father. Maybe someday I'll do the race, but maybe some day I wont.I do have to give credit to those who have attempted and to those who have attempted with success. 206 miles in one day is a pretty good ride. The most I've ever done is 160. There are a lot of cyclist out there who live and die by this race, and I wish them the best.
This is Jesse W. He's a good friend of mine and a great cyclist. He won the race a few year back and when I shot this he was making a huge effort to catch the breakaway group. (actually, he was joking around for the camera a bit)

The feedzone gets pretty serious. 100's of supporters looking to hand their rider some well needed food and drink. This was one of my father's friends who at the time, needed a bit more than food and drink. Old people... they're great.

My father insisted that we ride with his buddys for a while.

As for me, I'd rather go back to the lake. Blow some bubbles, play some soccer and hang out at the beach

Yesterday I received a call from my good friend Charlie G. He wants me to race the 24 hours of Moab with him in Oct. Out of all the races I've done, the 24hrs. of Moab is the best. It starts noon sat and goes till noon sunday. You can compete in the race a few different ways and I've been fortunate enough to experience a few of them. Typically, most people arrange a four man team and race in their respective category. You can also do it solo, duo, or arrange a five person team, but you are required to have at least one member of the team be female (if you have four males). The reason I need a single speed is that Chuck's team is looking to continue their winning streak in the single speed, oh did I mention RIDGED FORK category. I've raced the four man team a few times and once as a duo, but never on a single. I've never even ridden a single speed mountain bike for more than ten min. + who rides a fully ridged bike anymore. I mean come on. If they have technology to remove tattoos (inside joke) then they have technology to put some shock absorbers and a few extra gears on a mountain bike.
That being said... I think I'll do it. The race alone is worth it and i'm always looking for some diversity on the 16 mile lap.
p.s. I need a single speed bike.

Just wanted to give a shout out to my new friend/fellow cyclist. Dale Stephanos is an amazing illustrator and from his site... he seems to be a pretty cool cat as well. Some of his clients include: Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, Eall Street Journal, New York Times, Newsweek, Bicycling Magazine.... The list goes on and on. Check out his site for more information and great illustrations.

thanks to Mark Tubbs and Marc Garner for some much needed advice to get the kinks worked out on the old blogger..

My good friend Jason Dilworth may appreciate this.
Even with dual monitors Expose on the Mac is simply the best. If you not using it, you might as well consider yourself years behind in style, functionality and convenience.
Last night... A trip to the ER
03 September 2006
Shannon and I got home around 8:00 pm last night. as usual, Zipper was sitting on the front porch as he does when he wants to come in but this time was a bit different. As I got out of the car I head him crying and noticed that he was lifting his front left paw. Shannon had noticed slightly before me and had thrown everything from her hands on the ground as she rushed to his aid. Looks like Zipper had another run-in with some bigger and meaner cats. he was pretty beat up and we couldn't tell exactly what was wrong with his paw. We had no choice but to take him to the Animal ER. If you have ever experienced the Animal ER you know what I'm talking about... The earlier you make it the cheaper it is. So I did what every loving husband and father would do and I stuck it to the floor so we could save some cash.Numerous text message and phone calls from friends and six hour later, we we're able to take Zipper home, Now for the next week or so, he has all the high maintenance pills, and soaking, and drops etc. to take on a timed schedule. That's okay though, he's part of the family.
No matter what ER, you always end up waiting...

Zipper was pretty loopy when we got him home

Shannon was there to show off her professional mothering skills and got the situation under control

Zipper is having a hard time adjusting to the "lampshade life" and is pretty embarrassed about his tail

To make a charitable donation of flowers, treats, toys, and or cash... feel free to contact me or leave a comment and I'll provide you Zippers address. Thank you once again to those who sent messages of love and compassion throughout the night. Zipper couldn't have done it without you.
