PICTURE PERFECT

29 November 2007

Unfortunately/fortunately, the lunch ride no longer happens on the trails, but I still find myself riding in a little snow.

Sweet photo thanks to my cellular communication device.

BECAUSE THEY SAID SO

26 November 2007

And because, I'm optimistic. And because, I'd rather ride my bike for lunch. And because, it's a win win situation.

The weather man says snow tomorrow and I really like that. It's over due and I'm itching to strap on the skis. I'm putting my faith in what they say and hoping it will snow, but if not, I can always ride my bike. It all works out in the end.

I took it up dry creek to city creek,

hit some jumps

and rode down a wash. Then it was back to work via I street and coaster wheelies. I'll do it all again tomorrow "weather permitting".

BLACK FRIDAY

Known as the day to bring many businesses out of being in "the red" to being in "the black" mainly because of the advertised hype of how much the consumer can save. So is it really worth battling the crowds in hopes of saving money on that perfect gift for that perfect someone? Well, in my case, if that someone is myself then yes. I didn't wake up a 4 am this morning and head to WalMart, instead, Shan and I accompanied my sister and brother-in-law, to the midnight sale at the outlet stores in PC. I never thought I'd be one to take part in a Black Friday sale, and I may never do it again, but it was worth the experience and the list of items we did bring home. I suppose it's best to have an agenda when you're battling it out with hundreds of other deal searching shoppers, but for us, we were pretty much shopping for our own benefit. After a few hours we decided to call it quits and head home. We ended up spending some cash but I'd have to say we got the better end of the deal. Shan slept the drive home because she had plans to meet my oldest sister at 5:30 to continue the shopping spree. Around 9 am she rolled through the door with more bags full of Christmas cheer and is now sleeping it off.

All in all, I feel that my Black Friday, had a pretty decent start. Now the sun is shining and it's time to get in a few miles on the bike and or spend some more time hiking around with Kashi. We're headed for the Polar Express tonight with all my nieces and nephews. Should be a wild train ride through the Heber valley.

ONE MORE FOR THE WEEKEND

12 November 2007

Spent a little more time today with Kashi, at what I'd like to consider, one of my favorite places in the world. This hiking business is growing on me while bringing back some memories of when I strapped on the boots a bit more frequently. The hardest part is knowing that the ground I cover on foot could be multiplied by who knows how much in length and speed, if I was on the bike. But with the new snow and extremely muddy trails, it was in my best interest to leave the bike at home. More photos here

FREAKING LASER BEAMS

06 November 2007

BZ and I stopped in at the Fox Den on our commute home tonight for a little Primetime laser pen fun. Atop the building on Fox's porch, we sat there and shined a laser pen at people walking into Walgreens. Some people had no clue, other saw it and ignored the childish play, but there were a few others who seemed to go into CSI mode to find the idiots with the laser pen. There are only two time in my life when I've actually laughed when people fall victim to the laser pen and both of them have involved Cris.

After our shenanigans, BZ and I made our way up some City Creek onetrack and over the hill to the formally know North Training Compound. There's no better way to get to work than on your bike, especially your mountain bike.

Over the weekend I updated the Mac with Leopard. It pretty much refreshed my RSS feeds. For a second I though that everyone on my list decided to post 10+ each. Thankfully not. So far, the new cat is proving to be quite nice.

THUNDER THIGHS

03 November 2007

Took Kashi for a hike this morning. Adams Canyon was our trail of choice and it proved to be a wise one. I haven't been up here for a few years so it was nice to return to an old favorite.

We got up and back pretty early in the day so I was able to spend a few hours in the yard and then a few on my mountain bike. I was planning on riding some onetrack in PC today but I stacked myself a bit too tight and it wasn't going to work out. Sorry about that Weston.

Kashi rules the DH. I can't wait to ride some trails with him because I know he'll be some good competition.
