Xtreme Sports ID
Years ago when I was a kid, I remember getting my first mountain bike helmet. As I curiously sifted through the box looking at the owners manual and searching for an extra stickers, I came across one that struck my attention. It was a sticker but not one I’d ever place on the outside of my helmet. It wasn’t flashy or cool looking by any means. It was simply a white sticker with some fill-in-the-blank areas for my personal information. Name, address, phone # and blood type. Blood type? Ah, red?Not long after that, some friend and I were on what was a pretty big ride for a couple of 12 and 13 year olds. We set out from our neighbor hood in Farmington and headed south to Centerville. Our destination… McDonalds. Along for the ride was a new kid to the group named Jake. He just moved in and was anxious to make some friends. We made out way to McDonalds. Threw down some sweet food and just sat around for a bit. Jake told us he had to get home so he decided to leave before us. Not long after he left, we heard sirens and watch as an ambulance speed down the same road Jake headed home on. Curious, we jumped on our bikes and followed. Just around the corner we saw our new buddy laying in to road with medics surrounding him. He had hit his head pretty hard and wasn’t very responsive and the only thing we could tell the police is that his name was Jake. I soon realized it was probably a good decision to fill in the blanks and stick that sticker somewhere safe inside my helmet. Thankfully Jake’s family was contacted and he came away with a few bumps but no major injuries.Since those days, there have been some major advancement in the way medics and first responders obtain your info if you’re found busted up in the road. Hopefully we’ve got a good buddy or two with us that can help but there are plenty of times when we’re out there alone and if you’re like me, you like to pack as little as possible in your pockets. Most helmets still come with that little ID sticker but finding the realistate inside to stick it can be a bit difficult.A fantastic solution to all this can be packaged in a small rubber wristband from Xtreme Sports ID. Each Xtreme Sports ID features the medical alert symbol, 800#, and a personal 8-digit ID#. Once purchased and received, simply register your vital information on our website. In the event of an emergency, first responders, who are trained to check for medical alert bracelets, can call the phone number, punch in your 8-digit ID#, and hear a readout of all the submitted info.Including:

In addition the "WHERE AM I" feature allows you to record your plans and sends an email to three personal contacts each time it is updated. (e.g. 6/4/2011, Riding to Francis Peak, be back at 9:00 AM)I’ve loved this idea for a long time now, I’ve just never got around to ordering one. I picked up one for my father for Fathers Day and decided to snag one myself. I’m still hoping they’ll produce a white band. Maybe a special KDAY Raicng edition! Since then I contacted the folks at Xtreme Sports ID with a few questions regarding the wristbands. Can anyone call the 800 # on the wristbands and access your personal information?Yes, anyone can call the toll free number, but they must have your unique 8 digit ID number to access your information. That way, anyone assisting you in an emergency can access your information. If you are asking in reference to safe keeping of information, we have many security features built within our system to safeguard our customer’s information. Can users log on and update their profile by adding more info, removing info or changing contact or address information?Yes, a user can update their information as often as they wish. As long as they click “Submit,” their information is live. Our system pulls information in real-time.When someone purchases a band, is there a benefit for purchasing one that's associated with a foundation ie: USA Cycling, Team Type 1, NBCF? or is just a color option to show your support?Yes, we make donations to help support those affiliates quarterly. When measuring your wrist, are the sizes on the website 6", 7" etc. the size of the actual wristband or would that refer to the size of ones wrist? The sizes are the inside circumference of the wristbands.
