USCS #2

Race #2 of the Utah State Championship Series was held on Sat. evening at Round Valley, in Park City. The pro mens field was stacked and with guns a blazin set a nice pace to start us off. It didn't take long though for Alex Grant and Keegan Swenson to open some time on the rest of the field. We chased, but to no avail. Or should I say... Everyone but me chased. About a lap and a half into the tree lap race, I found myself lagging more and more with each turn of the pedals.Nick Fisher and Brent Pontius, laid it on thick to begin with. Jake Pantone and Reed Wycoff soon did the same. One by one then three by three. Quinn Bingham, Ryan Ashbridge, Rich Abbot, Brandon Firth and Chris Holley. I even got passed near the end by the first place finisher in the single speed category. But despite the lack-luster performance, the race was awesome and I had a great time out there. Here are a few screen shots from the video I took while racing:Quinn Bingham got some face time early on in the race. Just showing me the grit of what's to come. If only I had a shot of how fast he passed me.The Voodoo Corner of Doom: Got a shot of Nick Fisher going down on the first lap. Scroll down for more on this corner.Sager had an arsenal of bikes at his disposal. Here's the dismount in the feedzone. And the remount. The Voodoo Corner of Doom took another soul. I was right behind Sager when he went down and he hit hard, but bounced right back up. Tough dude. On the following and 3rd lap, the corner had it's way with me. I took it to the knee and elbow, then just laid there. Unfortunately I didn't have the camera rolling. It felt good to stop. Felt even better though to get back up and keep pedaling. And here's where the winner of the Single Speed category passed me. He was moving pretty quick.
