Something to hold on to
A comfort grip designed for the World Cup circuit! you bet. The Ergon GX1 is making trails of it's own on the bike racing scene these days, with numerous athletes reaching out for a little more to hold on to. I have to admit, I was a bit leery about riding these grips at first but after short ride on the shoreline with the rest of the Kuhl Mountain Team, I was agreeing with the majority, these grips rock.I enjoy a long climb and when I'm digging deep, the last thing I want to be doing is stressing (and using valuable energy) my upper body by clinching my grips. The GX1 grips have just the right amount of real-estate to let your hands comfortably relax while still keeping a little downward pressure when you're pushing it up the climb. I enjoyed the use of these grips and the extra surface area does release a lot of pressure reducing hot spots or hand cramps. That defiantly comes in to play on those extra long mtb rides in the middle of the summer. I'm currently not running the GX1 grips due to some callus problems on my girly hands, but anticipate popping them back on in the near future. I'm also very interested in checking out the new GA1. These may be more fitting to my hands as they're more of a natural grip. Check out everything Ergon has to offer online at ergon-bike.com.
