what's in your ears?

I've had a big case of Spring Fever lately and for good reason. The sun is out, the days are longer and the riding is nearly ideal. Sometimes life comes at us a little faster than we'd like so we have to make adjustments. Thankfully all is well around the K & S Day home and really the only adjustments we're needing to make is when will I have the time to put in a little training. For me, the days have been busy. Real busy. Finding time to get out and enjoy the sun had been a little spotty so I had to improvise. I hopped on the trainer for a brief spin the other night and the only thing that helped push me along was the music in my ears.Music. Such an interesting training tool. It's obviously pretty common and as portable as it is now days, it's almost impossible not to bring it with us where ever we go and when ever we train. For me, it all depends on the ride. I never bring music along when I'm on the mountain bike. I think it's a bit disrespectful to the sounds of  the trail. I need to hear the dirt under my tires and all the creatures that scatter when I rip by. But when I'm out solo on the road or commuting to and from work, it's always nice to have a bit of pick-me-up soundtrack to pass the time. The music selection below is just a sample of some of my top picks. Some old stuff, some new stuff, some really odd stuff and a bit in-between. My selections change up quite frequently. I don't like to listen to music on the radio very often. I like to wear out good songs at my own pace. I'm very careful about too much of a good thing and can usually milk good songs longer than most. There are a few songs in the playlist below that have had a huge impact on small segments of my training at one point or another. For example, one of them came on while climbing Emigration Canyon last spring. I was feeling pretty slow and tired at the time but within a matter of seconds I felt charged up and bursting with energy. I turned the volume up and repeated the song nearly the entire climb. I'd dare say it was one of the fastest rides I've ever had up Emigration or nearly any hill for that matter. There's a bit more to the story and it's a bit personal, but ever since then, that same song still holds a strong batch of pick-me-up and works every time.I don't think I have an all time favorite right now but there are a few that always make it into the top 5. I'm interested to know if you have a favorite that always makes your playlist and I welcome your suggestions to add to my ever changing playlist. Please feel free to include the artist name and song title in the comment section below.
