AK2019
February, 2019. Fairbanks, Alaska.
Our excitement to explore the frozen highways leading out of town consumed our days… or what amount of time we had in the sun. The views from our car window was vast and infinite. The sun stayed low on the horizon which made for an endless golden hour and photographers delight. Pulling over every chance we got, snapping photos of everything; it’s a wonder we covered as much ground as we did.
-37 on Highway 11, near the Yukon River. We were hoping to shake hands with Yukon Jeremy, but the sun had set. He, likely smarter than us had turned in for the night. We carried on towards Olnes Pond Campground. A familiar spot where a frozen lake surrounded by thick pines became the amphitheater of our northern lights experience.
